This Calming After Shave Balm with AEROSIL® R 816 is an o/w Pickering emulsion featuring AEROSIL® R 816 for particle-stabilized emulsions.

AEROSIL® R 816 is a fumed silica powder that offers an alternative technology to stabilize oil/water emulsions. Due to the special surface modification of the silica both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties are introduced in just one material. This enables AEROSIL® R 816 to enrich at oil/water interfaces and thereby stabilize oil droplets in a continuous water phase by the Pickering effect.

Procedure for Calming After Shave Balm with AEROSIL® R 816

  1. Pre-disperse phase 1
  2. Add phase 2 to phase 1
  3. Add phase 3 to phase 1 and homogenize with a turrax
  4. Add phase 4 to phase 1, 2, 3
  5. Adjust pH to 6.0
